Laurence Albert

Bass-Baritone
Laurence Albert began working professionally in opera, concert, oratorio, and recital in 1977. His operatic performances include engagements with the Paris Opéra (Bastille), the Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris), Oper Frankfurt (Gerrmany), Vest Norges Opera (Norway), Opera Ireland (Dublin), Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and Opera Memphis (USA). His recordings include the opera "Oedipe" (Enesco) with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic (Lawrence Foster conducting). He has performed in recital in Canada, Iceland, Bulgaria, South Africa, France, England, Germany, and throughout the USA. Laurence Albert has won several competitions, among them, the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the International Concours de Chant de Paris, the International Concours Tryptique de Paris, and the Franz Schubert Institut of Austria. Laurence Albert holds degrees in Music Performance from Morehouse College, and the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. He is Assistant Professor of Music at Tougaloo College.
